I have come to celebrate the joy and happiness in taking a spontaneous approach to my work. There is some magic here that I am yet to fathom but the resultant works are deeply personal and satisfying and indicate clearly my wish to cast off from the shores of constraint and expectations and sail upon the giant ocean of my subconscious.

Emerging from this approach I find distinct themes or ideas which require exploration through a series of works.  Starting points might be a line of poetry, a pattern on fabric, the light, a dream or a conversation which deeply resonates.  Allowing the resultant works to flow and evolve naturally as a consequence of each other works so well for me.  My past experiences have shown me that there is deep satisfaction in working this way.

Recent and regular Life Drawing has absolutely confirmed my interest in figurative work. I am particularly inspired by the unusual such as falling, twisting and flying. Sometimes even referencing myself as the figure and face in these works allows me the freedom to contort and shape the figure as I wish.

My current challenge is to combine disparate figures in a work to evoke a narrative which can be very personal both for myself and the viewer. Giving myself permission to work in a range of media is both exciting and liberating and I have never been so happy in my Art as now.
